About John Dee

What is his background?

John started his career at GKN and following a traditional apprenticeship held various roles including, Process engineer, Quality engineer, Metrologist. and Project Manager. During his time with GKN John patented several new technologies. He managed projects for, aero, process and automotive clients using APQP and PPAP methodologies for this Q1 site.

He later joined Webasto Roof Systems as process improvement co-ordinator and was involved in the re layout of 3 UK sites. After a team trained by John won the Industry Forum showcase challenge (lean implementation competition) at the NEC in 1999 he went on to join:-

S.M.M.T. Industry Forum. John spent twelve months training full time under master kaizen engineer, Ryoji Hirayama-san who was the production and quality analyst for Honda Japan. Leading improvement and team leader training programmes in more than 50 companies, John has worked with clients across automotive, aerospace, defence, agriculture, food processing, building products and educational sectors to name but a few.

In 2013 John Started his own Business DEE Enterprise Excellence Limited to enable him to develop his tools methodologies and approaches further. The core principle of D.E.E. is to 'cut out the waste' That not only applies through the service provided to the customer, but also to the way D.E.E. is run, Its approach to materials, training, and the 'debunking' of overly complex tools. John Delivers the majority of services personally but where scale demands it, he has a network of like minded well trained associates to call upon. This means that DEE cuts out the inventory waste of paying for idle hands, and can keep its customer fees Lean.

  • Delivered Improvement master class activities at more than 70 companies ranging in size from 10 to 3000 staff
  • Enabled, through layout, standardisation and line balance activities, an increase in turnover of £3.2million at a major U.K. trailer manufacturer
  • Secondment to General Motors UK as a "Supplier production readiness engineer" working with Lotus and its suppliers on the VX220 Project. This resulted in an on time 'Job one' and on target launch ramp up
